Sync
There are two ways to have the same notes everywhere, and the first one needs nothing from us.
A vault is just a folder, so any folder that syncs is a synced vault: iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Syncthing, a git repo, they all work the same way. Wander edits the files; your sync moves them. That is this page.
The second is Wander Cloud, our own sync: an account, and then the layers on top of your files (history, comments, ink) travel between your devices, plus a web editor and pages at wander.md/you. It is optional and off until you turn it on for a vault, and even then your files stay in your folder.
Set up with iCloud
To work on the same notes from two Macs (or Mac and iPhone):
In Finder, open iCloud Drive and create a folder there, for example "Notes". Anywhere inside iCloud Drive works.
Open that folder in Wander (Open Vault on the start screen, or File, Open) and start writing. Notes are plain .md files in the folder.
Want versions and search? File, Enable History & Search. This is optional and creates a hidden .wander folder inside the vault; without it Wander writes nothing but your notes.
On the other device, the folder appears once iCloud syncs it. Open it in Wander there: same vault, same notes.
Dropbox and friends: identical, just create the folder inside the synced location. A git repo needs you to commit and push yourself; Wander keeps the diffs clean and stays out of your refs.
On iPhone and iPad
Open the same folder from the vault picker (it browses iCloud Drive and any Files provider). Notes you write on the phone land in the folder and sync back the same way.
History across devices
Version history stays per-device by default. To see one shared timeline everywhere, open the History panel, Settings, and turn on syncing through the folder: each device publishes its history inside the vault and your sync carries it. No account, no server, and devices never conflict. Details in History.
Good to know
If a note looks empty for a moment on the second device, iCloud simply has not downloaded it yet; Wander picks it up as soon as it lands.
Comments, folder styles, and reading time all live in per-device files inside .wander, so they merge cleanly however your folder syncs.
Set up this way, nothing is uploaded by Wander itself: no account, no server, no telemetry. Your sync service is the only thing moving bytes. Turning on Wander Cloud for a vault is what changes that, and it is your switch.
